US/Ohio-based Materion, after acquiring the high performance target materials business of the German Heraeus Group, announced today its plan to move this business from the German state of Hessen to the city of Alzenau in Bavaria, Germany. To this end, Materion will build a new factory in Alzenau for 110 employees.
Materion and its subsidiaries generate roughly $1 billion in revenues annually and employ 2500 people. Manufacturing mainly in the US, Asia and Germany, Materion supplies the architectural and automotive glass, electronic display, photovoltaic and semiconductor markets with precious and non-precious metal target materials. With their latest move, the company adds Bavaria to its map, joining the state’s strong and highly productive manufacturing sector.
