Bavarian Research Foundation Funds 9 New Projects with 4.5M Euro

Today, the Bavarian Research Foundation granted 9 research projects 4.5 million euro in funds. The projects revolve around digitization and life sciences. Some of the interesting projects funded are:

  1. ImmunoProfiling through neuronal networks (Deep Learning)
    This project aims to automate and quantify tumor diagnosis through deep learning.
  2. INVIA – resource-adaptive mobile assistance system for complex farm machines
    INVIA is a cloud-based integrated assistance system helping the driver of complex farm machines by video-supported training through an augmented reality platform.
  3. VasOP
    VasOP strives to create vascularized, three-dimensional pancreas models which could be used for transplantation.
  4. FELIKS
    This project will realize the first simulation tool capable of adequately depicting the physical and chemical reactions of new battery concepts implementing solid polymer fuel cells.
  5. Link4Pro
    This project develops a generic system by which SMEs will be able to assess and analyze multi-level production processes.
  6. Freshness test reconstructing microbiological quality
    This new test will allow to determine the freshness the ingredients of heat-processed products had when they were utilized.

The Bavarian Research Foundation was established in 1990 with funds from the Bavarian government. It has since supported 831 projects with 546 million euro. These funding rounds were complimented by private co-financing, creating a total project volume of 1.213 billion euro over the past 26 years. Today, the Foundation appropriates about 50 million euro in grants annually. In addition, it grants scholarships to support the international collaboration of researches, Ph.Ds and doctoral candidates.
