UnternehmerTUM, Europe’s biggest center for innovation and business creation at the Technical University of Munich (Bavaria), is launching a new Artificial Intelligence Initiative (AppliedAI Initiative) with NVIDIA as its main strategic partner and in cooperation with some of Bavaria’s world renowned players such as Allianz, BMW, Infineon, Munich RE, and Siemens.
The AppliedAI Initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in all industry branches. At the research campus in Garching near Munich (one of Germany’s largest centers for scientific, research and academic institutions, home to e.g. GE Global Research and Max Planck Institutes), UnternehmerTUM creates a neutral ground where companies, scientists, public institutions and young talents can meet to learn, teach, create and deploy new methods and technologies as well as work together in the development of innovative AI products and applications. NVIDIA is supporting UnternehmerTUM’s state-of-the-art AI lab by providing access to its full expertise, training formats, and innovation ecosystem.
In addition, UnternehmerTUM is providing training, online courses, meetups and is developing use cases for autonomous systems in the robotics and automotive industries as well as man-machine interactions and computer vision – many of them are public and free of charge.
This Initiative is crucial to help small and large companies embrace this new technology that will be enormously important to the economy in the future. A McKinsey study found out that in Germany alone AI Systems could automate over 60 percent of all occupations and increase productivity by up to 1.4 percent annually.
Andreas Liebl (pictured left), Managing Director of the initiative and Project Manager of New Venture Creation at UnternehmerTUM says: “This is why we’re happy to share our expertise with companies and start-ups who want to work on innovative AI solutions. In cooperation with our partners, we’re applying our entire know-how here, together with all of our state-of-the-art technologies.”
