Looking Ahead: Bavaria Has Great Prospects for 2017 and Beyond

Two announcements made by the Bavarian government between the years show the current status of economic prosperity for the German State of Bavaria and the great prospects it brings with it.

The Minister of Labor, Emilia Müller, announced that in 2016, in every single month, the Bavarian unemployment rate was lower than in 2015’s corresponding month. Over the past decade, this trend has created about one million new jobs in Bavaria and diminished the unemployment rate to about half of its previous levels. At 3.3%, the Bavarian unemployment rate is not only the lowest in Germany, but also at the lowest level since the early 1990s.

These successes of the Bavarian economy attract talent. Accordingly, while Germany’s overall population is expected to decrease, the Bavarian population is expected to increase. In fact, the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior recently corrected its predictions upwards. While it was originally expected that the Bavarian population would reach its maximum in 2031, the excellent conditions in the German State now prompt further population influx, leading to a delayed maximum population in 2035, at the point of which the population of Bavaria will have grown from 12.8 to 13.5 million inhabitants (+5,4%).

This increase will mostly manifest itself in Bavaria’s urban centers, such as Regensburg, the administrative center of the Upper Palentine region on the Danube, which is displayed above.
